You can exercise your dog in the following areas around Gisborne city and Wainui. You must keep your dog under control at all times in a public place. Please don't forget to pick up your dog's droppings.

Dogs must be on a leash
Dog owners must have their dogs on a leash at all times in a public place within the city area (defined as the reticulated boundary) that's not designated as an off-leash or prohibited area. Dogs in Titirangi Domain and Waihirere Domain are also required to be on a leash.

Dog friendly exercise areas - no leash
You can exercise your dog without a leash as long as you keep them under continuous supervision and control.
- Ayton Park
- Beach and foreshore - Stanley Road to Waipaoa River
- Coldstream Reserve
- Heath Johnston Park - Paraone Road end
- Nelson Park - adjacent the footbridge
- Wainui Beach - except between the flags
- Waiteata Park - north side of the waterway, non-playground side
- Whataupoko Reserve
