Wave of colour for city's gardens
Prepare for another wave of colour to appear throughout the city’s gardens.
The amenity and horticulture team are getting ready to start their twice-yearly replanting of median strips, roundabouts and CBD planters.
Team leader Oriana Rojas says they’re bringing in thousands of colourful pansies, polyanthus, poppies, cineraria, primula, wallflowers, black mondo grass and more.
Her team of 4 will swell to 7 for the big mid-April plant-up. The dry summer and level one water restriction hasn’t affected the team too much.
“We've been able to use irrigation systems between 6am-8am and hand water during the rest of the day, so it has been fine,” says Oriana.
The second planting will be in mid-October.
Water restrictions lifted
The level one water restriction has now been lifted, but we encourage people to conserve water at all times.
