Walkways and cycle trails
Council maintained walkways, mountain-biking and fitness trails. Also other popular walking tracks and cycling trails.
The park was developed in 2001 after Council purchased the land in 1992. The reserve was then planted in exotic trees which are now well established. The mountain bike trails were developed in 2003 by a group of volunteers. There's 7 kilometres of trails.
Cyclists ride at your own risk, please wear suitable protection.
Please stay on the tracks.
Most people walk or run the trails. Entrances on Fox Street and Hauroa Road.
Titirangi Domain - Kaiti Hill
Titirangi Domain (Kaiti Hill) provides great views of Gisborne city and the bay towards Mahia. There are bush walk tracks amongst native trees. There is also a very popular fitness trail with lots of steps to run up and down.
Places of interest include the Cook bi-centenary memorial plaza, gun emplacement and observatory.
Other walkways and cycleways
City riverbank walkway along the Taruheru and Turanganui riverbank. Connects with the cycle/walkway along to Waikanae Beach.

♦ Waiherere Domain, Back Ormond Road. Native bush walk leading to Waihirere waterfall.

Rere Falls Trail cycleway
The Rere Falls trail is 103km, you can ride in either direction. For best views and a more downhill ride, start from Matawai to Gisborne - highlights along the way include Rere Rockslide, Rere Falls, Eastwoodhill Arboretum down through the Poverty Bay Flats to our city beaches.
