Tree felling at Waihirere Domain
Work will begin next week to remove 50 fire-damaged eucalyptus and pine trees from Waihirere Domain, before native replanting takes place.
Contractors Eastland Tree Care will be onsite from 3 April to fell the trees which were damaged during a fire at the Domain in 2015.
After the trees are felled, the ground will be prepared for native revegetation.
The work is being carried out in consultation with Ngati Wahia and the Department of Conservation.
As a safety precaution, the Domain will be closed to the public while the felling and processing is taking place.
The work is expected to take 10 days to complete, however it is weather dependent so may be delayed if necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns during the work, please contact customer services.
