Resource consent for wastewater overflows

Resource consent for wastewater overflows

Gisborne District Council is required to apply for a resource consent to discharge wastewater into the city's rivers. This includes wastewater overflows that can happen during wet or dry weather.

We know this is an issue that the community and tangata whenua feel very strongly about, and we want your views.

The resource consent will hold Council to a programme to continue to reduce overflows to benefit our rivers and people.

Please read the information sheets, they outline the causes and impacts of overflows and explain Council's approach to reducing overflows.
