Pre-pay smartcards available for GizzyBus

Gizzy bus

GizzyBus operators, Go Bus have phased out 10-trip paper tickets so regular passengers can switch to convenient pre-pay smartcards.

The change follows last year’s successful launch of cards for the Waka Kura school buses.

For a one-off payment of $6, cards can be purchased from Paper Plus Gisborne at 166 Gladstone Road or the Go Bus office at 34 Banks Street. The minimum top-up is $10.

The smartcards are supported by a free app called Transportme Passenger, which can be used to monitor the balance and top-up the cards. Passengers can then just tap their card as they board the bus.

The app is available for Android or Apple smart devices. The app also has GPS capability and shows how far away the next bus is.

Paper tickets can still be used after June 17 2019, but won’t be available for purchase after this date.

Go Bus will continue to accept cash payments for fares.
