Construction

Pool users can keep using some pools as phased construction gets underway.

The construction programme is designed to ensure that the pool complex stays open throughout construction. The new indoor facility is programmed to open in winter 2022. The outdoor phase is expected to be finished in summer 2023.

The design and construction team have split the project into 3 phases. 

Early work: now – end of 2021

During construction the outdoor pool remains open while the 50m pool is decommissioned and rebuilt. Early construction work includes:

A new permanent outdoor toilet and change room block

Heated water diverted to the existing external 33m pool. 

Temporary cover over the existing external 33m pool. (The cost and benefits of the cover are still being assessed).

Temporary office and reception

New accessible entrance and pathway from existing carpark.
