New tamariki mural at library
The tamariki section at the HB Williams Memorial Library has had a vibrant lift with a new calligraphy mural by Gisborne artist and Sea Walls coordinator Kelly Spencer.
Kelly has just returned home after completing her latest Sea Walls art in Mexico and was commissioned to paint the mural to highlight the children’s section for library visitors. Cultural activities manager Pene Walsh says Kelly’s inclusive approach and leadership with the Sea Walls project stood her out as an ideal person to create fun imagery that would help children navigate to their space within the library.
“Her commitment to spreading awareness about critical environmental issues is evident in all her work – look out for the tui and kowhai leaves within the mural.”
