We propose to change the way we allocate rates across Tairāwhiti to pay for some Council activities.
These proposed changes would reduce the rates by a small amount for many residential properties in the city but will increase the rates by a larger amount for multi-unit rating units such as retirement villages.
The rates for pastoral and horticultural farms would increase by a small amount and for land used as forestry by a large amount.
We would not collect any more money from these changes if the proposals are adopted. The changes reallocate the amount each group of ratepayers pays.
