GizzyBus is our bus service in Gisborne city, it operates Monday to Friday 7.10am - 5.40pm. No weekend or public holiday service.
We have 2 buses operating to and from the city centre in Bright Street to the outer suburbs.
No service is provided for rural or coastal townships.

Our drivers will try to keep to the times on the timetable. But, you should allow for the possibility that the bus might be running a few minutes early or late, depending on traffic. The departure times from the city centre will always be on time.
Cost to ride on a GizzyBus
- Adult - $2 one-way
- Child - $1.50 one-way
- Under 5s - free
- SuperGold - free between 9am - 3pm. Just show your card to the driver when boarding.

A child fare is ages 5-15 inclusive, or still at school. A high school student not in school uniform just needs to show their student ID.
Smartcard are available on all Gizzy Buses. A card can be bought for $6 from Paper Plus Gisborne or the Go Bus Gisborne office at 34 Banks Street. All buses will continue to accept cash payments.
Paper tickets will still be valid after 17 June 2019, but won’t be available for purchase.
To add credit to your smartcard, top up at using the Transportme app, Paper Plus Gisborne, Go Bus depot.

Be at the bus stop a few minutes before the scheduled departure time.
Our friendly drivers will help you get where you need to go with as much assistance you require.
The bus is a modern super low-floor bus that can seat 27 passengers and has space for a wheelchair. If you require assistance boarding please ask the driver.
Where are the bus stops?
See the timetable for stops and shelters. Each stop has a red and white bus stop sign on a pole. Some have yellow markings painted on the road.
When waiting at a bus stop - please make yourself visible and signal the driver to stop.
Please tell us if any bus shelters are damaged or graffitied.

Wheelchair and pushchair access
GizzyBuses are wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Please let the driver know that you require assistance and an accessibility ramp will be lowered for you. There's pushchair and wheelchair space allocated on the bus.
Put your bike on the bus
All GizzyBuses are fitted with bike racks. There's no extra cost to put your bike on a GizzyBus. You are responsible to load and unload your own bike, just signal the driver that you want to use the bike rack.
The SuperGold card is available to all eligible New Zealanders aged 65 years or over and those who receive the New Zealand Superannuation or the Veterans Pension.
SuperGold Cards can only be used during off-peak times 9am-3pm Monday to Friday on any GizzyBus service. If you travel outside these hours you will need to pay the full fare.
Remember you need to present your SuperGold card to the driver when boarding.

GizzyBus service operates Monday to Friday but not on public holidays including Christmas Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, 1-2 January and associated observed statutory holidays, Waitangi Day 6 February, Easter Monday, Anzac Day 25 April, Queen’s Birthday Monday, Labour Day, Boxing Day 26 December and associated observed statutory holidays, Auckland Anniversary day.
Every endeavour will be made to keep to the time and routes as set out in the timetable. However, no responsibility is accepted for any loss or expense incurred by any person because of delay or irregularity which may occur for any reason.
Right of refusal
The driver has the right to refuse admission or remove passengers whose conduct is offensive. Playing loud music, smoking and consuming food and alcohol are strictly prohibited.
Pets on the bus
Guide dogs are welcome to travel on the bus free of charge, sorry other animals are not permitted on the bus.

GizzyBus service is provided by GoBus under contract to the Gisborne District Council.
