Get to know your gully trap
‘Get to know your gully trap’ is the latest message in our Drainwise public education campaign, which aims to prevent wastewater overflows going into our rivers.
Every house has a gully trap that drains wastewater from the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. When rainwater gets into gully traps, it overloads the city sewer network, which can cause sewage overflows onto private properties and rivers during heavy rain events.
Featuring local plumber Mike Hall, the video is super informative on how residents can check their gully traps and identify any fixes that may need to be made. You can see the full clip here.
