Animal control

Animal control complaints - ph 0800 653 800. Officers will only attend serious situations.

Please keep your dog on a lead to avoid contact with other people while out walking. 

Make sure stock and pets are securely fenced-in to avoid roaming.

Parking and city watch

Parking and city watch staff are not working. 


Taruheru Cemetery office is closed.
All outdoor gatherings are cancelled, this includes tangihanga and funerals.

Rubbish and recycling 

Kerbside rubbish and recycling collection is as normal. This includes Good Friday and Easter Monday, collections as normal. For more information 
Make sure it's kerbside by 7am.  Sort your recycling - no tissues, wipes or contaminated products. 
Please note - if you miss the kerbside collection, please put it out the following week.

City transfer station including the recycling drop-off is Closed.

Rural transfer stations are open in normal hours.

Rubbish stickers can be purchased at most dairies and supermarkets.

Reserves and playgrounds

All playground equipment is closed. 

You can walk around parks and reserves. Please note that no reserve maintenance will be carried out during lockdown.
Don't touch surfaces others may have touched.
Avoid park benches and tables.

Whataupoko Reserve in Fox St is closed to mountain biking. It remains open to walkers who live close by.

The HB Williams Memorial Library is Closed

War Memorial Theatre is Closed. This will be reviewed on a monthly basis.
All shows for March, April and May have been cancelled or postponed. 

Lawson Field Theatre is Closed. This will be reviewed on a monthly basis.
