2020 By-Election

A by-election for one vacancy in the Gisborne Ward (approx 24,500 electors) will be held on Thursday 19 November 2020 by postal vote.  

Candidate nominations are open now and close 12noon Wednesday 23 September 2020.

Candidate nomination

To be eligible to stand for election, a candidate must:

• be aged 18 years or over 
• be a New Zealand citizen by birth or citizenship ceremony
• be enrolled on the Parliamentary Electoral Roll - this can be at an address anywhere in New Zealand.
• have 2 people nominate you who are electors (residential or ratepayer) of the Gisborne Ward.

All nomination papers must be in the hands of the electoral officer or an electoral official no later than 12noon Wednesday 23 September 2020.
